Charter vessel under sail between islands

Charters by day shape

East along the chain.

A passage plan, not a clock day. Priced per night, with one honest open-water crossing and short hops either side of it.

Every leg is a short hop except one honest open-water passage.

  • Depart Benoa, sometimes Serangan by vessel.
  • The boat overnights in sheltered bays, not port.
  • Lombok Strait is timed for first light, for current.
  • Two to five cabins, four to ten guests.

The route

Anchorage by anchorage

The chain east of Bali. What makes this work is that only one leg is a real passage — the rest are hops measured in minutes.

Sailing charter vessel off an island

Lembongan & Penida

12 nautical miles from Benoa, 1.5 to 2.5 hours. First night off Jungut Batu or in the Ceningan channel, then Manta Bay and Crystal Bay.

Charter vessel making an open-water passage

The Lombok Strait

The one serious passage — 35 nautical miles, three to five hours. Captains leave at first light to time the current.

Gili Trawangan shoreline and anchorage from the air

The Gilis & Lombok

Gili Air for the easy anchorage, Meno for turtles, Trawangan for an evening ashore. Then Medana Bay and the Senggigi coast.

How many nights

Two nights

What the route adds
Benoa – Lembongan – Penida – Benoa
Who it suits
First overnight charter, families with young children

Three nights

What the route adds
Adds the strait crossing and a night at Gili Air
Who it suits
Honeymoons and couples

Five nights

What the route adds
Adds Medana Bay and the southwest Gilis around Gili Gede
Who it suits
Groups wanting the quieter anchorages

Two nights is the minimum. Below that the passage time starts eating the water time, which is the whole reason to take a boat east in the first place.
