Do I need to bring snorkel gear?

No. Masks and fins in all sizes are aboard where the vessel carries them, and that is inside the block. Bring your own only if you are particular about fit.

Soft. A hard suitcase does not stow well on a boat and there is rarely anywhere sensible to put it, especially on an overnight where it has to share a cabin with you.

What about the temple dress code?

Shoulders and knees covered. If your day includes a shore stop at a temple, bring one layer that does that — being turned away costs you the anchorage, not just the photograph.

Is the sun really that strong?

Stronger than it feels, because the breeze on the water hides it and the surface reflects. Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat that will not blow off, and a long-sleeved layer for the middle of the day.

Do we wear shoes on deck?

No — barefoot or soft soles only. Leave anything with a hard sole in the bag.

Aboard, ashore, and after dark

A day charter needs almost nothing. A shore stop and an evening at anchor each add one thing people forget.

On deck

Swimwear, a rash vest or long-sleeved layer, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat that stays on in wind, polarised sunglasses and a soft bag. Snorkel gear is aboard.

Ashore

Sandals you can walk a jetty in, and one layer that covers shoulders and knees. Temple stops enforce that, and a beach landing at low tide means wet feet.

After dark

It cools on the water once the sun is down. A light jacket for a sunset block, and something warmer if you are staying at anchor overnight.
