Charter vessel under sail between islands

Itineraries

Four nights, four anchorages, one real crossing.

Bali to the Gilis and Lombok and back. Every leg is a short hop except the Lombok Strait, and that one is timed for first light.

Each anchorage is chosen for calm water, reliable holding, and a short run to the next morning.

  • Nusa Dua, the Lembongan channel, the Gilis, northwest Lombok.
  • Sunrise over Rinjani from the Gili anchorage.
  • The Lombok Strait crossing is timed for first light.
  • The captain has the final call, every night.

The route

Five days, east and back

The chain east of Bali. Only one leg is a real passage; the rest are measured in minutes.

  1. 01

    Day 1 · South Bali

Board at Benoa. A short first leg on purpose, so dinner is served in flat water off Nusa Dua.

  2. 02

    Day 2 · Lembongan & Ceningan

The mangrove channel and the morning snorkel sites, both minutes from the night-two mooring.

  3. 03

Day 3 · The Gili Islands

The strait crossing at first light, then the underwater sculpture park and the lee of Meno or Air.

  4. 04

    Day 4 · Northwest Lombok

Rinjani's foothills and the Sasak coast, with the night in a protected cove around Medana Bay.

Day 5 is the crossing home to Benoa, staged from the Lombok cove so the passage is made in the morning window rather than the afternoon.

Where the boat sleeps

Night 1 · Bight off Nusa Dua

Conditions
8–12 m over sand, shielded from the southeast trades
Why it works
A short first leg, so dinner is served in flat water

Night 2 · Lembongan–Ceningan channel

Conditions
Moorings in 5–10 m; tidal current runs through
Why it works
Mangroves and the morning snorkel sites are minutes away

Night 3 · Lee of Gili Meno or Air

Conditions
10–18 m with coral heads about; buoys preferred over anchoring
Why it works
Protected from ocean swell, sunrise over Rinjani

Night 4 · Northwest Lombok cove

Conditions
10–15 m over mud and sand, good all-round shelter
Why it works
Staging point for the early crossing back to Bali

In July and August the Lembongan channel and the Gili moorings are the two spots where arriving early matters. Experienced crews plan departure times around mooring availability rather than around meal service.
