When is the water calmest?

May through September. Consistently calm seas, low humidity and minimal rainfall, with air around 28–30°C.

When can we see mantas?

April through October at the Nusa Penida cleaning stations, with peak encounters through the dry months.

Is the wet season worth it?

For value, genuinely yes. Mid-November to March gives the best rates and the widest choice of vessel, and Bali rarely goes flat. Mornings are usually the calm window; afternoon squalls build over the strait.

Harbours close completely and no vessel departs for 24 hours. It falls in March. Check the date before you book flights, not after.

Which month would you pick?

April or October, if the choice were free. Still calm, noticeably quieter, and one to two weeks lead time instead of four to eight.
