Bali to Lombok Fast Boat: Prices & Duration in 2026

Updated: August 2026

As of 2026, published one-way fares on the Bali–Lombok fast boat corridor mostly sit between Rp 350,000 and Rp 600,000: Eka Jaya at roughly Rp 350,000–450,000, Gili Getaway around Rp 400,000–550,000, BlueWater Express about Rp 450,000–600,000, with some premium products listed near Rp 790,000. Crossings take 1.5 hours from Padangbai — the shortest route — and 2 to 2.5 hours from Serangan or Sanur, with most boats landing at Bangsal in northwest Lombok after calling at the Gili Islands.

Those are the headline numbers. What they hide is that the “cheapest ticket” and the “cheapest journey” are different things, because pickup inclusions, harbour drive times and cancellation risk all price in eventually.

Duration Depends on Your Harbour, Not Your Operator

DepartureWater timeRoad time from Seminyak beltOperators
Padangbai (east)~1.5 hrs1.5–2 hrsEka Jaya, Ostina, Wahana, Semaya One
Serangan (south)~2–2.5 hrs20–40 minBlueWater Express, Gili Getaway
Sanur (southeast)~2–2.5 hrs30–60 minSelected services

Door-to-door, a Serangan departure often beats Padangbai for south-coast stays despite the longer sail — and the reverse from Ubud or Candidasa. Route mechanics, arrival ports and the private alternative are covered on our Bali to Lombok fast boat page.

What Moves the Fare

  • Season: July–August and Christmas push fares to the top of each band; shoulder months sit lower.
  • Channel: operator sites and established aggregators beat beach-desk resellers, who add margin and subtract accountability.
  • Inclusions: many tickets bundle Bali-side hotel pickup from Ubud, Sanur, Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Candidasa zones — worth more than a Rp 50,000 fare difference. Lombok-side transfers are almost never included; budget separately from Bangsal.
  • Returns: round-trip pricing discounts modestly. Only lock the return in dry season; wet-season flexibility is worth the few rupiah.

The Fine Print That Costs Money

Luggage rides at one carry-on plus up to 25 kg checked across the fleet; surfboards and oversized bags draw surcharges at the harbour, sometimes gleefully. Arrive 45–60 minutes before departure — the check-in scrum at peak waves is real. And respect the season: the Lombok Strait is calm April–November and can turn genuinely rough December–March, when BMKG wave warnings trigger cancellations (Padangbai suspended sailings entirely in a December 2024 swell event). A cancelled boat is the system working; our fast boat safety guide explains how to pick the operators with that discipline, and our operator comparison names them.

When the Charter Maths Wins

Price a group honestly and the public boat’s advantage shrinks: eight travellers at Rp 500,000 each way is Rp 8 million in tickets before transfers, harbour time and the Bangsal scrum. A private charter running the same strait on your schedule — swim stops at the Gilis en route, boards racked like passengers, no queues — competes hard at that arithmetic, and as one leg of a multi-day Bali–Lombok–Gili charter it converts transit day into the best day of the trip. Day formats run via private boat rental.

Bottom Line

A Worked Budget: Two Travellers, Seminyak to Lombok

Serangan route: two one-way fares at ~Rp 500,000 each on a premium operator, hotel pickup included, Bangsal arrival, then ~Rp 300,000 for a driver to Senggigi — call it Rp 1.3 million and four hours door-to-door. Padangbai route: two fares at ~Rp 400,000 with pickup, longer drive but shorter sail — similar total, similar hours, more road. The lesson generalises: on this corridor the fare is only half the spend, and the halves move in opposite directions depending on your harbour. Price the whole journey, then book the morning boat.

Families should add one line to the budget: children travel at reduced fares on most operators, but child-size life jackets are the thing actually worth confirming before you pay. And if anyone in the party is a nervous sailor, the premium tier earns its margin precisely on the rough days — bigger hulls, better weather calls, and staff who have seen it all before.

Currency tip: fares are quoted in rupiah; card payments online sometimes price in dollars or euros at soft exchange rates, so compare the IDR figure before checkout, and keep small notes for porters and drivers on both shores.

Budget Rp 350,000–600,000 one-way, pick the harbour by where you sleep, book direct, and buy the morning departure. Travellers pushing further east than Lombok — Sumbawa, Komodo — are shopping a different product entirely: that’s expedition water, mapped by Bali to Komodo.
